The release of Baz Luhrmann’s release of the Elvis Presley movie got me thinking. It triggered a memory, of someone saying he was a Paedophile. I had to find out more, the rumour has it he married Priscilla when she was 14. This had a snowball effect, I remembered Jerry Lee Lewis married his 13-year-old cousin once removed….
I did some digging, Elvis was not a pedo. The facts are, that they first met when Priscilla was 14 in 1959, and they didn’t marry until Priscilla was 21(ish).
Im like now this is almost creepy, I started remembering songs that were creepy and almost wrong. So I made a list.
I can hear you all now, how can a great Aussie / NZ band make the list. The very first line gives it away, Ten years in the jailer’s (gaoler’s) eye. So is this song about underaged love or, about a guy going to gaol, and asking is he old enough? is he a man? I will let you decide.

Disclaimer – I love this song, but
We’re one mistake from being together
But let’s not ask why it’s not right
You won’t be seventeen forever
And we can get away with this tonight
This track is a remake of Neil Diamonds track of the same name. It’s about a teenage girl falling for a much older man.
This song is about the mixed feelings teacher has for a student and deals with the fallout of the discovery of the relationship when discovered by other adults!
This song has beautiful lyrics, If I could fly I’d pick you up, and take you into the night. The very first verse gives it away
She’s just 16 years old
Leave her alone, they say
Separated by fools
Who don’t know what love is yet
But I want you to know
That’s nothing until you watch the video clip
Once seen… Can’t be unseen or heard. I am really amased at times how we can listen to the lyrics of a song without realizing the meanings. Some meanings are harmless, some are explainable, and others are just downright creepy. Like everything else, it’s in the context.
There are more creepy songs lust like these ones
