      Espresso Sabrina Carpenter

Ok Poprockers, something has been on my mind, and I must get it out there. Recently there’s been a song picked up by every radio station on the planet, Sabrina Carpenter’s Espresso. Watch the clip below.

I thought to myself is the another song that is just as good but by an Australian artist? I think there is, and it didn’t take me long to find Emily Bettison with Caffeinate.

Well, I’ll be. Espresso VS Caffeinate. Let’s see how the two compare, and you can let me know what you think.

Let’s Look at each Song.

Sabrina Carpenter – Espresso

In My Opinion, this is a typical bubblegum cookie-cutter pop song. There’s no effort in the singing no challenge to the vocals. It’s pretty basic and sounds like a range of other pop artists like Doja Cat.

This track is the same from start to finish, which if you want to dance to it, yeah, maybe. If I was DJing in a club, it would be something I’d play early in the night to get the girls up on the floor, but it’s not something to keep the crowd on the floor.

Emily Bettison- Caffeinated

Unlike Espresso, Caffeinated still has the pop vibe, but hasn’t been produced within a template. The vocals in the track have more range, and the song is being sung like a pop song should be.

Emily brings in more instruments to the track, the piano is present and isn’t ashamed to be heard, and the track doesn’t depend on the Drum and Bass that Espresso does.

My Conclusion – Espresso VS Caffeinate

They are both being sold as PopSongs. One is more bubble gum pop than the other. Sabrina’s song is marketed to a younger generation, while Emily’s track is for a more mature audience. I think both songs have merit, but Sabrina will get more airplay on the sole point – she is a bigger artist, and that’s only because of Taylor Swift.

I do think Emily’s song is worthy of airplay, It’s on PopRock Indie and should be picked up on other stations but it helps who your friends are.
