360 is coming to the end of a huge “Back To Life Part 2” regional tour, which has covered a lot of Australia. Not many artists make their way across the Nullarbor and head to Western Australia, but not only did 360 make the trek, as the tour says, he included regional areas. I live in a place called Rockingham in WA; it’s not what you would traditionally call regional, but there are a lot of people happy he included Rockingham on the list.

I am no stranger to the Leisure Inn. I did a fair whack of DJing there back in the Nineties, and the place hasn’t changed much at all. It was like going back in time, back when Rap was Salt-N-Pepa – you know the song, “Let’s Talk About Sex”.

Fast forward to 2024, over 32 years since Salt-N-Pepa’s number one song, and I find myself in a sea of people waiting for 360 to appear before us. The place was hot, really hot, and 360 mentioned this during the night; he was grateful that everyone was surviving the heat.

Openning

360 opened the show with his “Run Alone” from 1992, his legion of fans erupting into a sea of gratitude and cheering. The crowd loved the intro; “Break the Rules” was next, and “Boys Like You” followed.

The crowd was loving every minute. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but an old guy like myself, being a little old school in my music, wasn’t sure about some of the choices of language, but hey, that’s what makes the music what it is, and the artist who they are. It’s part of the show, part of the storytelling; it’s what makes it real to the punters, that’s what they are here for. If you don’t like it, then this music is not for you.

Lights Out

The show continued with “Hammerhead,” “Shutterbug,” and “Money”. The crowd was soaking in the raw storytelling in the songs, from one of Australia’s best rappers. The set finished up with “Yesterday” and “Killer”. Then the lights went out; the crowd knew what to do, and pulled out their phones, lighting up the place for “Child”. They closed out the bracket with “Knowing My Place”.

Like I said, I’m used to ’90s Rap, so coming to 360’s “Back to Life Part 2” Show was always going to be a bit of a culture shock, but I allowed myself to be immersed in the experience, and it was great. The beautiful thing about music is that when you allow yourself to be a part of it, it’s a great — dare not say it — an awesome experience.

Last Night

Song 11 from 360 was “Atmosphere/212”, before he slowed it up a bit with a rendition of Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night”, then he teamed up with Drest for “Love Yourself”.

The crowd was going off. 360 disappeared, but the crowd wanted none of that, calling out for more, and 360 obliged. He came back with “Live It Up” and closed with “Price of Fame”.

At the end of the day, I can say I was lucky to be invited to 360’s show, and I thoroughly enjoyed the show, yet the venue needs a bit of a check, but this is about the show and 360. He didn’t disappoint and has probably picked up a few more fans along the way.

This is what 360 said about this tour.

I’m not going to lie, after the first tour in June I was nervous because I felt so rusty still. I had to shake off a lot of cobwebs and it got in my head a bit, I felt stiff, I struggled loosening up and having fun performing. But this tour – that feeling has completely gone, thankfully. Now I’ve been just vibing with the music, having fun and feeling like I used to back in the day. It’s taken a lot of work to get here, but it’s so good to be back.”
