Hey PopRockers, We recently had the privilege to go and see Kav Temperley perform at Encore in Rockingham, Western Australia. Encore is a brand-new live performance venue for the area,

Kav Fullerton

To kick off the evening was a performance by local Kav Fullerton. We were stunned and blown away by Kav, he performed like a seasoned performer. The amazing thing is that he is only 16 years old.

Kav is certainly an entertainer to keep an eye on, and if you get a chance to see one of his shows, you should. Our closing comment for Kav Fullerton, if Eskimo Joe needs a replacement for Kav Temperley, then he would be a shoo-in. You can hear the sounds of Kav Temperley in Kav’s (Fullerton’s) voice. A great performance 10/10!

Grace Newton-Wordsworth

Next off the bat was Grace. Another epic performance, Grace will be touring with Kav Temperley, and Eskimo Joe this year, so you will have heaps of opportunity to go and see her perform with her band.

Grace hit every note perfectly and looked right at home on the stage. From Start to finish she entertained with a range of original alt-pop tracks.

Grace didn’t disappoint singing and playing guitar and keyboards, so make sure you seek out Grace’s future performance, 10/10.

Kav Temperley

About a year ago, we managed to interview Kav Temperley, it was one of our first interviews for PopRock Radio, the audio was bad, and everything else was bad except for Kav. The true professional carried the interview like it was no trouble at all. I won’t share the interview here to save embarrassment lol.

What I learned about Kav, was not that, he only has a passion for music, but for fostering talent, sharing his craft and mentoring upcoming artists, such as Kav Fullerton. Kav T is more than a musician in a band, more than a solo performer, he is a champion of a person, and he is truly awesome.

Kav was coming to Encore. a new live performance venue in Rockingham, and given the chance to go see Kav and do a little review I would go with great anticipation and excitement.

Now this is a review of Kav, not the crowd or venue.

I was disappointed at the relatively low numbers of the crowd, we could blame the road closures due to a fire burning, but we won’t. There is more than one road in and out of Rockingham.

For a class act like Kav, I believe there wasn’t enough promotion to the local people at all. If more people had known they would have turned up.

The crowd at the venue seemed more concentrated on talking rather than enjoying the show. But as I mentioned earlier Kav is a professional, and soldiered on. He played his original tracks like My Favourite, “Graduation Day”, a song he teamed up with Katy Steele to release about a year ago.

A bit of Eskimo Joe

Kav also played tracks from Eskimo Joe which perked the crowd a bit, a few of the ladies got up to dance, which slowly managed to get others to join in. Getting people up and moving, was a struggle for all the entertainers that night, it was a hard crowd and brought down by the choice of music by the house DJ. I know this isn’t a review of the venue and the crowd, but, you gotta call it as you see it.

The service at the venue was good, great even, but there is a rule in clubs, that the only staff on the dance floor is the glassy and security and only if needed.

Back to Kav, as always a rock-solid performance in front of what I can only say was a hard crowd, except for those few ladies who bravely or maybe tipserley if that’s even a word, got up to dance. And when the crowd started singing Black Fingernails, Red Wine, it showed some in the crowd came to have a great time!

Rocking on

This was an acoustic evening, but, with Kav, that doesn’t mean laid back. He rocked on like it was more than just him and his guitar. A true rocker, a true gentleman and a true Aussie performer, we need more like him.

His performance is better than a 10/10 you can multiply that by 100, and still not come close.

When the crowd started cheering for an encore, Kav graciously came back and belted out two more bangers. It was a great night, for those who came to be entertained.

This goes without saying, don’t ever miss a Kav Temperley performance, no matter where he is performing.
