Remember back in 2002, yes way back when.  Sk8Er Boi was the second  song released by Avril from her Let Go Album. The songs on the “Let Go” album are again, so bad they’re good.

Honestly I don’t really know why everyone loves to hate Avril and this album, maybe because it’s a punk-pop album, in a time when music genres were trying to find their own mark, but blending styles became a good thing. Think Simple plan.

Or is it possible, it was just the style of music coming out of Canada at the time, and the world was trying to set boundaries instead of blending them? Again think Simple Plan…

“Sk8er Boi” was nominated and won many awards. In the 2003 Grammy Awards edition, Lavigne received 5 nominations, including Best Female Rock Vocal Performance for “Sk8er Boi”, but lost it to Sheryl Crow’s “Steve McQueen”. The song won “Favorite Song” at the 2003 Kids’ Choice Awards, “Choice Music Single” at the 2003 Teen Choice Awards and “Best Pop Song” at “Socan Awards”.

Maybe we love to hate Avril’s music as much as we love to hate Avril. It’s so easy like memes for song titles Constapated instead of Complicated, and things like that. Maybe it’s because she died and has been replaced by someone called Melissa back in 2003. Seriously people think that’s a thing.

Or it could be she married another artist we love to hate, Chad Kroeger From Nickleback.

Like I Said I’m not sure why we love to hate Sk8er Boi and other tracks from Avril, but really deep down we know she has a great voice and can sing.
