Today we are reviewing a band that is not on our playlist. Why not I can hear in the distance. Let me explain, we are PopRock, a collision of Pop Music, and Rock Music. Most of our Rock music is of the commercial kind. So when looking at a band like Tool, shall I say is out of our league.

Let’s start our journey and review. The first destination on our journey is their website, toolband.com It’s simple but yet the graphics are really artistic, typical of what you would expect from a heavy metal rock band. But we are not here for a critique of their website. Our second destination was Youtube, we needed to hear the band.

For you who do not know, Tool is a band from the ’90s era of heavy rock. What sets tool apart from other rock bands from that time; they were rock, not grunge, they weren’t commercial they were artistic, they still very much are.

It seems like a lifetime ago, but it was only in 2019 that the band went digital. Tool uploaded their music to streaming services like I-tunes, where they immediately dominated the top of the charts. They have four songs that peaked inside the ARIA Digital Download chart In Australia. The music industry-standard recording chart in the US, have Tool with 2 songs that is the Billboard Hot 100. And 14 Tracks on the US mainstream rock chart.

Fear Inoculum

If you go on youtube and look for Tool. You will see that their music was uploaded in 2019, let me help you out, listen to the “Fear Inoculum” Album, there are only 3 songs with run times of under 4:50 minutes, so be prepared to be listening for a while. When I started I thought I would be skipping past songs in a rush to get a feel so I could write an article that sums up any rock band, but no, I stuck around.

Let me tell you it is heavy metal, but it does not insult your ears, it’s an album that can be played, in the background, when working from home, or an intense playlist for an angry workout, I mean a hard workout, it pushes you to go more, if you time your sets two music tracks, you will lose yourself so be prepared for pain tomorrow.

The next coming of metal

In an article from “The Atlantic“, they say a heavy metal giant is awakening after a 13-year slumber, and they ask if the domain they once ruled remain? Sadly that domain I believe has faded away, but is not yet dead. I believe once the restrictions of Covid fade, bands like Tool will rise again. Only because this style of music needs to be heard live and loud. The only way to truly appreciate the music is in a seedy bar with raw sounding electric guitars, eardrums defying bass and psychedelic rhythm and trance like fills.

Without delving too deeply into the back catalogue of Tool, fear Inoculum plays like a soundtrack to a dark movie, where we know the hero is going to go through some hard shit to come out on top.

So will we be adding Tool to our roster? Well yes, I think we will. We have reached out to Tool so hopefully, soon we will add them to our Rock Sessions. We will update you all soon!
