2023 saw Jet receive one of the highest honours in the Australian Music Industry – Induction into the ARIA Hall Of Fame. That same year Jet set out on a tour on the East Coast of Australia celebrating 20 years of their Debut Album – Get Born.

Tour Rolls On

Roll on one year later and Jet extended their tour to include more states and locations, not only did they extend the tour they added new music, ahead of their much anticipated new album in 2025.Thanks to Metropolis in Fremantle and Live Nation Australia, PopRock radio was invited to the front row of a nostalgic rock show that will forever be implanted in my memory.

Let’s Go!

Looking around the venue the place was full, with fans young and old, and I like to think I fit into the young genre, but nope I’m not, I was there at the beginning when Jet released the 2003 Banger of an album – Get Born.

Coming out a couple of minutes behind schedule, which helped build the anticipation in the room, Jet landed with a sonic boom with the track “Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is”, followed by “She’s A Genius” and “Black Hearts”. All three tracks set up the night for an awesome show.

The remainder of the set was essentially the Get Born album tracklist. Fans didn’t have to wait long for the hits, “Are You Gonna Be My Girl” and “Rollover DJ” with the crowd going wild and singing out their hearts. There’s going to be a lot of voiceless people in Perth today.

The hits didn’t stop there, with the Britpop Sounding “Look What You Have Done”, with the crowd singing along with Nic, at this stage the show was more of a rock sing-along than a rock show. And it is here when you realise the impact the music has had on so many people, and how the music of Jet is as age-defying as their looks. They didn’t look like they had aged a bit in the last 20-odd years.

Part Two

With the majority of hits out the way, and the remainder of the setlist to be played out, it didn’t matter if you knew the songs or lyrics, as with all great rock albums, songs and shows, the vibe of the music, venue and punters carries you along, and the crowd were still going strong.

Again with the sing-along, with “Cold Hard Bitch” the crowd were competing with Nic and the Lads in drowning each other out! The band left for a quick break leaving Nic to woo the fans with a hit from 2006 – Shine On.

Encore

Then they ended the night with an encore of the Jets’ new track “Hurry Hurry”, You can read more about that here, and finished with “Seventeen” and “Rip It Up”.

All up, the lads Nic, Cameron and Mark, along with Stand Drummer Pete Marin, and touring member Louis, put on an amazing show, and it doesn’t matter if you a new to Jet or have been there since the beginning you will enjoy the show. Well Done Jet!

Jet still has several shows to perform, and if you are lucky you might get tickets by visiting Live Nation https://www.livenation.com.au/artist-jet-804
