No other band is so far away from mediocrity like the Imagine Dragons.
Being named one of the most popular bands of the last century, the US-American crew is known for its powerful chorus and artful blend of legendary genres like rock, folk, indie rock and pop music.
The multi-platinum and multi-Grammy-winning band Imagine Dragons inspires countless people with its well-known rousing compositions and authentic rhythms. It is no wonder that they emerged as one of the most influential rock bands globally over the past few years.
Let’s look at their famous rise in the music industry and find out who the gentlemen behind the name actually are.
The journey takes place at Brigham Young University in the US state of Utah. We look back at an era when none of the boys from Las Vegas could call themselves “stars”. It is the place where then-students Dan Reynolds and Andrew Tolman first met and developed the idea of starting a band. Together with Aurora Florence, Andrew Beck and Dave Lemke, this dream soon became a reality, and the gang with the new name Imagine dragons published their first EP, “Speak To Me”.
After multiple members leaving the crew and the colossal success at the “Bite of Las Vegas “-Festival, the band finally found its perfect arrangement with lead singer Dan Reynolds, guitarist Wayne Sermon, Ben McKee and Daniel Platzman. And the big breakthrough was not long in coming.
In 2012, the song “It’s Time “was featured in the renowned TV show Glee, gaining the band tremendous success and allowing the publishing of their first album “Night Visions“.
Soon papers and magazines were filled with the superstars of Imagine Dragons and their non-alike style of colourful and vibrant music. At this time, they were one of the first alternative rock bands to be confronted with such monumental success worldwide, especially despite their wide range of preferred music genres, such as electropop, pop-rock, indie, EDM, folk and drum & bass.
The band’s chart-topping singles “Radioactive” and “Demons” presented the band with immense growth. “Demons” sold more than 7 million copies and the single “On Top Of The World” more than 3 million. “Night Visions” mutated into a box office hit and even went double platinum in the US.
The group had mastered the leap from the class of “local celebrity” to the category of “star” with flying colours. We think that this is no wonder, thanks to their unpretentious melodies, luminous verses and powerful vocals that inspire many young people nowadays. Reynolds explained the deep lyrical value as “something that feels like you’re escaping into a much more vibrant world. We want to help people focus on the beauty of each moment and really see all the brilliance and colour of life.”
Even though the second album, “Smoke + Mirrors“, can’t be compared with the success of its predecessor, it made its debut at number 1 at the Billboard Top 200 in 2015. Even today, the band presents us with hits, such as “Believer “and “Whatever It Takes “, proof that Imagine Dragons are far from being mediocre.
Their last albums, “Evolve “(2017), “Origins “(2018) and “Mercury” (2021), all climbed the throne of the album charts worldwide within seconds and left the world of music with unbelievable envy.
When talking about the Imagine Dragons, we speak about a band that embodies the power of music like no other. We are very excited to listen to their new album “Mercury” and already familiar vibrant beats, bright harmonies and emphatic lyrics.
