The festival kicked off with an electrifying performance by X Ambassadors, setting the tone for an unforgettable day of live music. This American rock band is renowned for its anthemic sound, seamlessly blending alternative rock with elements of pop and electronic music. Their emotionally charged lyrics and powerful instrumentals have earned them a dedicated global following.
Formed in Ithaca, New York, X Ambassadors consists of lead vocalist Sam Harris, keyboardist Casey Harris, and drummer Adam Levin. Joining them on tour is Russ Flynn, who skillfully alternates between guitar and bass. Their synergy on stage was undeniable, with each member bringing raw energy and passion to the performance.
Casey Harris, a standout presence on stage, was particularly animated on the keys, immersing himself fully in the music. His enthusiasm was contagious, drawing the audience into the rhythm and emotion of each song. For those unfamiliar, Casey has been blind since birth, yet his immense musical talent and creative vision have played a pivotal role in shaping the band’s distinctive sound.
X Ambassadors launched their set with Renegades, an alternative rock anthem that immediately resonated with the crowd. As the opening notes rang out, fans enthusiastically joined in, chanting the iconic hey, hey, hey, living like renegades refrain. The momentum continued with No Strings, a track from their Townie album, which showcased their signature blend of heartfelt lyrics and infectious melodies.
As the set progressed, the audience grew larger and more engaged. Smoke on the Highway and Happy People kept the energy high, with fans swaying and singing along.
Happy People, a collaboration with Teddy Swims and Jac Ross, introduced a bluesy, soulful vibe that was easy to groove to, even for those hearing it for the first time.
The band’s sound can best be described as a fusion of OneRepublic’s polished anthems and the gritty, narrative-driven imagery of early Chris Daughtry.
Taking a brief pause, Sam Harris took a moment to introduce the band, sharing a few words of gratitude before announcing their next track, Your Town. His charisma and connection with the crowd made the experience feel personal and intimate, as though every song was a direct conversation with the audience.
As their set neared its end, they delivered a powerful rendition of Fall Out, gradually building to the emotional crescendo of their final song, Unsteady. The hauntingly beautiful ballad struck a chord with the audience, many of whom sang along with heartfelt intensity. By the time X Ambassadors wrapped up their performance, they had left an undeniable mark on the festival, setting the bar high for the acts to follow.
The crowd’s energy and enthusiasm proved just how much they enjoyed the set, making it clear that X Ambassadors had successfully turned A Day On the Green into an electrifying celebration of music.
