Calum Scott opened for The Script, bringing his soulful voice to the stage. The British singer-songwriter captivated the crowd with his deeply emotive ballads. Known for his emotional performances, Calum first gained fame in 2015 as a finalist on Britain’s Got Talent. His heartfelt rendition of Robyn’s “Dancing on My Own” became a global sensation.
On stage, Calum looked ready for a Mediterranean cruise, but he wasn’t planning a holiday. He was dressed for a hot Perth summer night—a nod to iconic Australian entertainer Peter Allen.
Calum turned up the heat from the first note. He kicked off with Light House, and by then, the crowd had filled to near capacity. Fans, both young and old, were immersed in his presence.
Next, he energized the crowd with the upbeat “At Your Worst” and the melodic “If You Ever Change Your Mind” from his Bridges album. Calum continued his vocal smorgasbord with Biblical, keeping the energy high.
He then surprised the audience with a couple of covers and collaborations. Did you know Calum has a Maroon 5 tribute band? Well, now you do. But, there’s a twist—it’s Maroon 4.
Calum showcased his vocal range with a cover of This Love by Maroon 5. Then, the crowd sang along to the hit “Where Are You Now?”—a collaboration with Lost Frequencies. The vibe intensified, and fans were grooving along as Calum followed with Whistle, his collab with Jax Jones.
After the collaborations, he gave the crowd a taste of his own work, including the energetic Roots and the heartfelt ballad Run with Me.
It was then that Calum showed deep appreciation for his fans. He humbly dedicated his next song, You Are The Reason, to them. The crowd sang along, clapping and cheering, showing their love for the artist.
Then, the moment everyone had been waiting for arrived. Calum cracked a joke about singing Britney Spears’ “One More Time.” The crowd roared with laughter. But the real magic happened when he launched into his biggest hit, Dancing On My Own. He even mixed in “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” bringing a fresh twist to his signature track.
Now, Calum Scott is headed home to continue working on his third album. We can’t wait to see what’s next!
But what a way to open for The Script – Absolutely Fantastic.
