It has been a long time between drinks for The Pierce Brothers in WA. But for fans of The Pierce Brothers, the drought has well and truly broken.

Jack and Pat shook the rafters at Mojos in Fremantle, last night in a performance that left everyone feeling the love from the identical twins from Melbourne.

Flynn Gurry

Mojo’s Bar has a capacity of around 200, and it did not take long for the crowd to be warmed up by Flynn Gurry.  It was Flynn’s first time in WA and he wooed the crowd. And in return, the crowd wooed Flynn, especially when they were singing back his songs. He was going to call his Mum to share the excitement!

If you haven’t heard of Flynn, don’t worry, here are some deets. Flynn is from Victoria and is a talented musician and storyteller. Flynn plays a blend of Blues-Rock-Folk that is filled with guitar solos on his trusty 12-string. But all that together with great lyrics, and you have an entertainer who will have you asking for more.

Pierce Brothers

Then it was time for The Pierce Brothers. Well before the doors opened at Mojo’s there was a buzz from the patrons lining up outside.

I lost count of how many times we were asked if we had seen The Pierce Brothers before, and the answer was no.

Jack and Pat are identical twin Brothers from Victoria, they started busking on Bourke Street in Melbourne, and a few years later they were playing in festivals, and packed out shows around the world. They just got home from a successful European tour.

The Lads from Vic performed their “Everything is Bigger than Me” album which is an Indie Folk Rock mix with some awesome stage presence, Jack and Pat came here to party, and so did the Fans. Even one of their biggest fans had a shout-out and he was only 8 years old!

The Pierce Bros played a 14-track setlist, that lasted over 90 minutes, so you get your money’s worth at a Pierce Brothers show.

The Set List

  • Studio
  • Genevieve
  • It’s Alright
  • Amsterdam

One thing that struck me was not just the music and performance, it was the sincerity and appreciation Jack and Pat, had for the crowd, the love for the music, and the love for each other oozed out which, infected the crowd.

The storytelling, crowd interactions, Jack’s playful and energetic stage presence, Pat’s Guitar and vocal work, and awesome showmanship make a great night. I was truly in awe watching Jack and Pat play the same guitar at the same time, who does that? They do!
