As we commemorate this milestone, let’s take a journey back to explore the impact and enduring legacy of this iconic album.”

Get Born gets released.

‘Get Born’ was released on 14 September 2003 and has sold over 4 million copies worldwide. The album includes Jet’s most popular song, ‘Are You Gonna Be My Girl’, which was voted number one in the 2003 Triple J Hottest 100. The album’s name was derived from a lyric to the Bob Dylan song ‘Subterranean Homesick Blues’.

The album debuted at number three and peaked at number one on the Australian ARIA Albums Chart as of May 2004. It was certified 8× Platinum in Australia, making it one of the top five highest-selling Australian rock albums of all time.

Success

The unparalleled success of ‘Get Born’ at home was only one part of the story, as Jet topped both the US Modern Rock and Mainstream Rock charts with total worldwide sales of more than 5 million albums.

On the Billboard Hot 100, ‘Are You Gonna Be My Girl’ debuted on 20 December 2003, peaked at number 29 on 24 April 2004, and stayed on the chart for 25 weeks. ‘Cold Hard Bitch’ debuted on 3 April 2004, peaked at number 55 on 8 May 2004, and stayed on the chart for 20 weeks. ‘Look What You’ve Done’ debuted on 29 January 2005, peaked at number 37 on 2 April 2005, and stayed on the chart for 20 weeks.

Jet’s music was not just about chart-topping hits. It was about the energy, the rawness, and the authenticity that they brought to the rock scene at the time. Their music resonated with fans around the world, and their live performances were just as electrifying as their studio recordings. They toured with the likes of the Rolling Stones, Oasis, and Kings of Leon.

Jet into the ARIA Hall Of Fame

“In 2023, Jet received one of the highest honours in the Australian music industry – induction into the ARIA Hall of Fame. This prestigious recognition is bestowed upon artists who have made significant contributions to the Australian music scene, and Jet’s induction is a testament to their enduring influence and success.

Jet’s journey to this point was marked by a series of remarkable achievements. Their debut album ‘Get Born’ not only topped the charts in Australia but also made waves internationally, earning them a dedicated fan base around the world. Their subsequent albums, ‘Shine On’ and ‘Shaka Rock’, further solidified their status as one of Australia’s leading rock bands.

The band’s induction into the ARIA Hall of Fame is not just a recognition of their past successes, but also an acknowledgment of their ongoing impact on the music industry. Even two decades after the release of ‘Get Born’, Jet’s music continues to inspire and resonate with listeners, demonstrating the timeless appeal of their sound.

As we celebrate the 20th anniversary of ‘Get Born’, we are reminded of the impact that Jet has had on the music industry. Their music continues to inspire and influence new generations of musicians and fans alike. Here’s to another 20 years of ‘Get Born’!”
