Perth indie-rock sensation Cloning return with Just As You Are, their boldest and most personal single to date. After selling out venues nationwide and earning millions of streams, the band solidify their unique voice in Australia’s alt-rock scene.

A Sonic Leap Forward

Just As You Are emerges as a sweeping new chapter. It unveils textured layers of sound, atmospheric flourishes, and an emotionally rich tone. Frontman Felix Parker delivers soft-spoken, introspective lyrics with delicate power. Mastered by Brian Lucey (Arctic Monkeys, Royal Blood), sharpens each beat.

Influences surface subtly, from Slowdive to Midnight Oil, but Cloning chart their own path with every verse. The single glows with warm synths, crisp percussion, and agile guitar work. This track stands as their most confident and cohesive statement yet.

The Message Behind the Music

Just As You Are is about embracing who you are,” says vocalist Parker. “It celebrates comfort in your own skin.”

That honesty resonates throughout the band’s approach. Bassist and producer Nic Rollo handled recording and mixing, giving the process a collaborative edge. “We iterate quickly. Everyone experiments. That freedom made this track soar,” Rollo explains.

This in-house production model enhances their sonic signature. With no external producer filtering their voice, every layer reflects deep synergy.

Meet Cloning: From Kalgoorlie to National Success

Cloning formed in 2019 when guitarist Bevan Green relocated to Perth. He joined high school friends Felix Parker, Nic Rollo, and Jack Brett. The four built something special—personal, evocative, and undeniably fresh.

Building a Sound and a Following

In 2020, music site Tone Deaf dubbed Cloning “the future of indie and alt-rock in Australia.” That recognition soon turned into reality. Their passionate fanbase grew through immersive soundscapes and heartfelt songwriting.

Spotify featured them in ‘New Music Friday,’ while Apple Music spotlighted them in ‘New Music Daily.’ Millions of streams followed, cementing their place in Australian indie lore.

Cloning’s DIY Approach to Craft and Community

Self-Produced, Self-Defined

Cloning’s music doesn’t follow trends. It builds its own blueprint.

Their full discography reflects this philosophy. From 2019’s Pillars of Salt to 2021’s Wounded Healers and 2024’s Fall Out, their releases shape a clear sonic evolution. Each track reflects a band unafraid of emotional honesty or creative risk.

Producing music independently has sharpened that vision. With Rollo at the production helm, each track feels alive with experimentation. “The studio is just another writing room,” says Rollo. “We build tracks together, from scratch.”

This setup keeps their work fluid and fearless.

Cultivating Connection

Fans aren’t numbers to Cloning. They’re part of the process.

From post-show meetups to signed merchandise, the band invests in genuine interaction. “Some fans travel hundreds of kilometres to see us,” Parker shares. “Meeting them means everything.”

They’ve built a 10,000-strong email subscriber base and a 500-member Discord fan server. It’s a grassroots network, powered by word-of-mouth and connection, not marketing budgets.

Touring Beyond the Comfort Zone

Cloning has toured nationally three times and sold out venues in every state. Melbourne’s The Workers Club and Adelaide’s Grace Emily Hotel both packed out during 2024’s run.

These aren’t hometown shows. They’re milestones—and proof that Cloning’s music travels.

At a 2023 Brisbane show, TheMusic.com.au described their presence as “less like a production and more like friends experiencing life together.” That sentiment captures Cloning’s essence: real, human, and welcoming.

2025: A Pivotal Year for Cloning

Industry Recognition and Momentum

Cloning’s growing momentum hasn’t gone unnoticed.

In September, they will perform at BIGSOUND 2025, one of Australia’s largest music industry showcases. The event highlights future stars—Cloning now counts themselves among them.

Felix Parker also earned a coveted spot at John Butler’s Seed Fund workshop in the Blue Mountains. The program mentors promising artists in music and business development. For Cloning, it represents both validation and opportunity.

What’s Next?

With Just As You Are now released, Cloning begins a thrilling new chapter. They plan more shows, more fan connection, and more music.

Their blend of vulnerability and vision continues to set them apart. The single confirms it: this band has reached new heights—and they’re not slowing down.
