Written and performed by Naughton and produced by multi-award-winning, Matt Fell, Back to Us is a ballad about the innocence of young love at a crossroads, paired with the fear of repeating your mistakes.
“Back To Us feels a little bittersweet to me. I knew it was such a special song as soon as I started writing and it very quickly became one of my favourite writing experiences. I just felt this magic – like I was being transported into the story of a couple who understand what it’s like to have a wild, all-encompassing young love and what it’s like to feel it slip away,” says Kora.
Who Is Kora
Kora Naughton, still in her early 20s, is proving herself an artist with drive and determination.
Hailing from Albion Park, NSW, Kora’s musical journey began at 15, inspired by her first Toyota Country Music Festival experience in Tamworth, NSW. Since this time, Kora has opened shows for several renowned Australian artists, including Travis Collins, Amber Lawrence, Ashleigh Dallas, and Hayley Jensen.
Kora was born with a condition called Spina Bifida. Despite impacting nerves and functionality of her lower limbs, Kora has never let it slow her down.
Kora released her debut album Ride or Die in July 2018 at 15 years old. She says the album is about “taking a chance and living life to the fullest”. Collaborating with producer/musician Rod Motbey, Kora crafted this album to make Country Music her career.
In March 2021, Kora unveiled her sophomore album, Nineteen, showcasing her exceptional song writing skills with 11 of the 13 album tracks penned by her. This album reached the top 15 in the ARIA country album charts and solidified Kora’s presence in the Australian country music scene.
Since the release of Nineteen, Kora has released two modern country singles; If You Ain’t, co-written with Canadian artist/producer, Dustin Bird and Four Wheels, a track Kora described as “a love song about the bond between a girl and her first car”.
In November 2022, Kora was named a finalist in the Toyota Star Maker competition, where she performed to an audience of thousands on the main stage of the Toyota Country Music Festival in 2023.
It was during this performance that Kora debuted what is to be her next single.
Head in the Sand was written by Kora amid Covid lockdown, stemming from the need to forget all your problems and head for warmer weather.
Following her release of summer anthem, Head in the Sand earlier this year, Kora followed up with another super catchy single, Mad About You, in May, with her new single, a ballad called Back to Us, due out in August.
