Melbourne’s genre-blending dynamo Steph Strings is turning up the heat with her new single Devil Woman. This bluesy, country-pop stomper marks the first official taste of her debut album Feel Alive, landing Friday, 9 January 2026.
Known for her intricate guitarwork and emotive songwriting, Steph’s latest track is a bold sonic shift. Devil Woman channels smoky Americana, cinematic swagger, and a touch of villainous charm. Think Elvis meets Bella Mackenzie with a dash of John Butler and a whole lot of attitude.
“The single is about an evil woman that will never change,” Steph says. “I was picturing iconic female villains like Cruella de Vil, Maleficent, and Bellatrix Lestrange… and even some people I know personally!”
Produced by Jared Adlam (GCMA Producer of the Year 2023) and mastered by George Georgiadis (Royal Otis, Matt Corby), Devil Woman is a sonic detour from Steph’s coastal roots. The accompanying music video—shot in Little River, Victoria—features Steph shredding guitar in the back of a truck, speeding down a dirt road. It’s dusty, cinematic, and dripping with Americana grit.
“I’ve always wanted to play guitar in the trailer of a car, speeding down a dirt road,” Steph laughs. “And I finally got to live out that dream!”
The clip, produced by OneHouse Productions (Boy & Bear, Jerome Farah), is a visual feast of banjos, silos, and outback adventure. It’s a perfect match for the track’s rebellious energy and a clear signal that Steph’s stepping into new creative territory.
Steph’s debut album, Feel Alive, is a kaleidoscope of sound and emotion. Produced by Tim Hart (Boy & Bear), with contributions from Alice Ivy (Three Wishes) and Adlam (Devil Woman), the album blends folk, rock, country, pop, and raw honesty.
From the reflective opener Gratefully to the dreamy acoustics of Waterfall, the moody depths of Melbourne Blue, and the rock’n’roll spirit of Rockstar/Gypsy, Feel Alive is a journey through Steph’s psyche and sonic palette. Other highlights include:
Steph’s storytelling is front and centre, offering listeners a soundtrack for healing, dreaming, and rediscovery.

Steph’s musical journey started at age 7 with piano, but it was the guitar—picked up at age 9—that truly lit the fuse. Her debut EP Allegoric Oceans dropped in 2017, and she’s since built a global fanbase with millions of streams and a reputation for electrifying live shows.
She’s toured with Vance Joy, Ziggy Alberts, The Cat Empire, and more, and her 2025–2026 tour calendar is stacked:
“Fans can expect newfound energy, more singalongs, and more dancing,” Steph promises. “And if they’re lucky, maybe even some tear-wrenching piano ballads too…”
Devil Woman isn’t just a single—it’s a statement. “It feels like my first, official step into the new Steph Strings,” she says. “I have a feeling everyone is going to sense my shift in creativity and energy, and I feel that they are going to love it!”
Her mission? To help people reconnect with their emotions and find freedom through music.
“If I can leave any mark on the world, it would be to influence as many people as possible to find their freedom and feel alive.”
